The Great Electoral College Prediction (with poll)
Mon Jul 21, 2008 at 11:17:07 PM PDT
Netroots Nation was pretty cool for me, having not attended Yearlykos before and having never stepped foot in Texas either. There were some great panels, excellent film screenings, valuable networking time and an overall vibe that should result in a big win for Obama this fall and other important wins on the local and state level.
Day after WV: How many Supers?
Tue May 13, 2008 at 10:04:44 PM PDT
I am convinced that by tomorrow night's evening news, the Obama campaign will have announced a number of new superdelegates. Plus I heard one of the folks on MSNBC say that his campaign will release his April fundraising numbers which are supposedly sizable. We all know, except the delusional, that Barack Obama will be our nominee.
60 Minutes: Thoughts on Tonight's Episode
Sun Mar 02, 2008 at 04:40:11 PM PDT
I just watched the portion of 60 Minutes that featured Obama and Clinton. They were asked about chances going into Ohio and Texas (with a pretty good overview of Ohio) as well as some issues like the Obama Muslim false story, if Hillary will withdraw from the race if she loses Texas or Ohio, among other things.
Barack Obama: Our Next President
Mon Feb 04, 2008 at 05:38:04 PM PDT
I'm one more voice, one more vote for Barack Obama tomorrow morning. I'm here in New York City. I can take pride in the fact that I may have swayed a couple family members to vote the same -- after a couple dozen arguments, debates and many-an-article forwarding. I gave more money than I should have. I put up fliers yesterday. I did a little fundraising online. I blogged. I commented. I talked. I hosted debate parties. And tomorrow morning I'm getting up early and casting my vote for the next President, Barack Obama.
Apocalypse Now: Global Markets Edition
Mon Jan 21, 2008 at 11:43:57 PM PDT
Well it ain't pretty in the global markets today. In a matter of hours, the NYSE will open. We will find out what is going to happen here in New York, but one thing rings true. The economy is at risk: recession is looming, and overseas markets are taking an enormous hit. This will effect everything. For without a solid economy, the mighty United States loses its power.
Kucinich Demands and Pays for NH Recount
Thu Jan 10, 2008 at 09:05:39 PM PDT
From AP:
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Democrat Dennis Kucinich, who won less than 2 percent of the vote in the New Hampshire primary, said Thursday he wants a recount to ensure that all ballots in his party's contest were counted. The Ohio congressman cited "serious and credible reports, allegations and rumors" about the integrity of Tuesday results.
Deputy Secretary of State David Scanlan said Kucinich is entitled to a statewide recount. But, under New Hampshire law, Kucinich will have to pay for it. Scanlan said he had "every confidence" the results are accurate.
In a letter dated Thursday, Kucinich said he does not expect significant changes in his vote total, but wants assurance that "100 percent of the voters had 100 percent of their votes counted."
Sadness from the Assassination
Thu Dec 27, 2007 at 11:48:19 PM PDT
For some reason the assassination of Benazir Bhutto today affected me. A real people's leader, promoting and fighting for true Democracy, her killing is truly sad. I guess this is life on Earth. Depressing and shocking events continue to happen each every year, really every day if you are receptive to it. I live in New York City and I can get upset virtually everyday by seeing the numbers of homeless stranded on the city streets. There's also the tough realities which also matter to me: animal cruelty, the destruction of the environment, disease, hunger, and all those other causes for which I feel frequent guilt about not helping to reduce. But staying on message here...
11 Days from Today
Sat Dec 22, 2007 at 11:00:45 PM PDT
Eleven days from now, Iowans will gather all over the midwestern state to hold caucuses for their state's nomination. With polls dropping everyday, celebrities and newspapers endorsing candidates, and the media and its pundits making predictions, it still is a clear toss-up. Anything can happen eleven days from now.
Des Moines Register Endorsement
Sat Dec 15, 2007 at 01:02:56 AM PDT
I'm not sure what effect Iowa's big paper will have on any undecided voters, but there remains less than 24 hours before their endorsement is revealed. I've a feeling they're going to go with Senator Barack Obama (but maybe that's because I'm supporting him). Maybe they'll continue their support for Edwards as was done in 2004. Or maybe the three women editors will decide to choose Hillary. Maybe they'll pick one of the "second-tier" candidates to shake it up. No one knows until tomorrow but we can speculate.
Obama's Supreme End Game
Wed Dec 12, 2007 at 01:58:39 PM PDT
Well folks, the tightening of the race has two sides in my opinion. First, is Hillary's decline. Second, is the rise of Obama. People tuned in (figuratively and literally) this fall and began to think for themselves. They began to know Obama, and they liked him. They took a closer look at Hillary (and listened) and started to get that not-so-fresh feeling.
Who will Barack Obama choose as his Running Mate?
Fri Nov 30, 2007 at 11:50:26 PM PDT
Hey everybody! A late Friday/early Saturday morning post from New York City. I want to say that I saw Obama speak at the Apollo last night with openers Cornel West and Chris Rock. The place was sold out, enthusiasm was high, volunteers were fired up. The media was there in full force - even Fox who did a piece from outside the Apollo. So here's my new Diary entry with Straw Poll.
Obama Sweep: Iowa, NH and SC
Wed Nov 28, 2007 at 11:14:28 PM PDT
Hillary will be a dead fish by February 5th.
This is wishful thinking yes, but quite possible...
Will Obama be a closer and win the Nomination?
Sun Nov 11, 2007 at 06:51:09 PM PDT
Polls are showing what I predicted would happen after Senator Clinton's last debate performance. While she lost 10 points in NH according to the latest poll and Iowa is a toss-up, I realize that between now and January 3rd anything can happen. So, here's my question on the heels of Obama's speech in Iowa yesterday at the Democratic event.
New Poll: Democratic Nomination
Mon Nov 05, 2007 at 11:09:25 PM PDT
Since the last Democratic debate, a much more aggressive approach has been taken by John Edwards and Barack Obama. The story is more interesting for sure, at the very least. I'm creating a new poll to see where the Dailykos community now stands as far as predicting the 2008 Democratic Nominee for President. Feel free to comment below as well. Thanks.
"Golden Ticket" to Run against Republicans in 2008
Thu Oct 18, 2007 at 09:02:03 PM PDT
Here's my last poll for a while. Some of you may be getting "poll fever". However, I like seeing the DailyKos community's response on these questions. Plus, creating a poll is easy and fun.
Please note that Al Gore is not included here.. as he apparently is not running.
Thanks for voting and feel free to say anything in the comments - good, bad or ugly.
Democratic Nominee Poll: of Declared Candidates!
Tue Oct 16, 2007 at 09:34:13 PM PDT
Thanks to everybody that voted in my Republican Nominee Poll yesterday. The top pick was Rudy. So, here's my follow up. Please vote for who you think will win the Democratic Nomination next year.
Republican Nominee Poll
Mon Oct 15, 2007 at 11:37:28 PM PDT
Please choose who you believe will end up being the 2008 Republican Presidential Nominee. This is "my little DailyKos poll". Thanks for taking part.
Fox Business Debuts Today.
Mon Oct 15, 2007 at 12:08:52 AM PDT
Today Fox Business hits the airwaves.
The new TV channel, part of Rupert Murdoch's media empire, will focus just on business. The question is, in what way? Fox Business will rival mainstay CNBC on television. The new cable channel benefits from Murdoch's News Corp.'s recent acquisition of the Wall Street Journal (Dow Jones). They will incorporate editorial from the Journal and benefit from the WSJ brand. Fox Business website is live: www.foxbusiness.com. Looks like they have a few hot chicks to report the news. A reason to tune in?
